The National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers (NABH) on February 25, 2026, notified regarding the implementation plan of 2nd edition of the NABH Nursing Excellence Standards for hospitals.
The following has been stated:
• NABH has introduced the 2nd Edition of Nursing Excellence Standards for Hospitals to enhance the quality, safety, and effectiveness of nursing services. Released in September 2025, these standards will come into effect from April 1, 2026, and will apply to NABH-accredited hospitals under a two-year certification programme.
• New applications after this date must follow the 2nd edition, while limited flexibility is provided for applications submitted before March 31, 2026. NABH will begin assessments under the new standards from April 2026, and no new or renewal applications under the 1st edition will be accepted thereafter.
• Additionally, NABH has launched a role-based induction programme for nurses to strengthen competencies, improve patient safety, ensure adherence to protocols, and enhance professional accountability in healthcare organizations.
